Kisla is an idyllic Mediterranean-farming village tucked away in a coastal valley in Gokbel Mallahesi, Mugla. Overlooking the sparkling Turquoise Sea, the village provides the perfect setting for a tranquil retreat taking you back to simpler times reminiscent of the Mediterranean described in the novels of Gerald Durrell and Olivia Manning and the cookery books of Paula Wolfert and Elizabeth David.
With only 25 households the village is too small and its inhabitants too self-sufficient to maintain a shop, local produce can be bought easily through a small family run restaurant.
Sunset Restaurant
It’s a short stroll up through the village to the “Sunset Restaurant” where the patrons, Bekhir and Madonna, cook the freshest local produce every evening. The sea bream is brought up daily from a fishing boat in the local bay and the Georgian speciality, khachapuri, is cooked from scratch with home-made cheese from the same cow lowing across the valley. The food is served on their terrace with a backdrop of the spectacular sunsets.
A moonlit wander home, replete with good food and accompanied by the sound of the cicadas still singing completes the evening.
Şahin Tepesi Terrace Café
For a lunchtime bite Şahin Tepesi Terrace Cafe (Hawk Hill) offers freshly prepared salads & traditional Turkish fare but a few steps from the front door with beautiful views of the valley to the sea. From here guided walks around the local coastline can be arranged with the owner.
Kargıcak Plaji (Beach)
At the bottom of the Valley 2.5 km and 240 m down to sea level Kargıcak Koyu Beach offers water sports on a secluded beach. The bar and Café serve food and drinks from morning until dusk along with a free taxi service just a phone call away.
Candost Plaji (Beach)
A very short walk over the rocks from Kargıcak beach leads you to an even more remote beach
